Jes Praktica VLC3 case repairing project

The Praktica VLC3 is a very capable camera. In fact it's one of my favourites.
I got it from my friend Attila Fricz (thanks, Attila!).
I use it mainly with a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm 1.8 lens.
Attila sent it with a nice looking case.
The case is built upon some rigid plastic parts (the top cover and the lens cover) and some flexible parts made up of what now looks like pressed cardboard. Probably due to the age, the original mmaterials the case was built on have gotten some degradation. As a result, at any time one opens the case, a rain of small black parts fall around.

Besides the two strong plastic parts, the case has two more soft parts: a flap in the backside of the top cover that is being used to "close" the case, and the element that supports the lens cover.
So I decided to replace the two damaged parts to get back the old appeareance and useage.
To replace them for a long lasting period, I decided to use leather. When carefully treated, leather may last easily 200 years.
